Browser Check-up
  1. Pop-up Windows
    • Parts of the ACE Organic system (including tests on this check-up page) are opened in new browser windows. If you have a pop-up blocker installed problems may occur when navigating within the system.

    • If the pop-up test failed, please make sure that you either disable your pop-up blocker or set it to allow pop-ups coming from this domain name. All pop-ups used in ACE Organic are related directly to the use of the system.

  2. Cookies
    • In order to log in and use ACE Organic, your browser must accept cookies.

    • If the cookie test failed, please make sure that your browser is set to at least accept first-party cookies.
      • In Internet Explorer...
Go to Tools > Internet Options.
        Pick the Privacy tab.
        Press the Advanced... button.
Set it to accept first-party cookies.
      • In Firefox...
Go to Tools > Options. (Firefox > Preferences on a Mac)
        Select the Privacy section.
        Expand the Cookies section.
Make sure 'Allow sites to set cookies' is checked.
      • In Netscape for Windows...
In the Tools menu, expand Cookie Manager.
Make sure that 'Allow cookies from this site' is checked.
      • In Netscape for Mac...
        Go to Netscape > Preferences....
Expand the Privacy and Security section.
        Select Cookies.
Make sure either 'Allow cookies for the originating web site only' or 'Allow all cookies' is checked.
      • In Safari...
        Go to Safari > Preferences.
        Select the Security section.
Make sure Accept Cookies is set to either 'Always' or 'Only from sites you navigate to'.

  3. Java Virtual Machine
    • In order to make use of the MarvinSketch drawing applet, you must have the Java Virtual Machine installed.

Click here for Java's test site

    • Use that site to make sure the Java VM is running on your computer. If the test fails, the site gives a detailed explanation of how to go about downloading and installing the proper software.

  4. Java LiveConnect
    • In order for the MarvinSketch applet to communicate with the rest of ACE Organic, your browser must be LiveConnect capable.

    • If the test on that page fails, you will not be able to submit answers to any of the questions.
      • If you are running ACE on a Windows or Linux machine, try reinstalling the Java Virtual Machine (referred to in part 3 of this check-up). If that doesn't work, make sure you are using one of our supported browsers.
      • If you are running ACE on a Mac OSX based machine using Safari, please make sure that you have the latest official Safari updates from Apple's web site. If you still run into problems, please try reinstalling the Java Virtual Machine, referred to in part 3 above.
      • If you are running ACE on a Mac OSX based machine using a browser other than Safari, please install the Java Embedding Plugin. If that doesn't work in your current browser, you will need to switch to one of the supported browsers.

If all of the tests on this page pass and you are using one of the supported browsers, you should not experience any issues while using ACE Organic.

If, however, some of the tests don't pass and you have tried all of the steps provided, make sure that any firewall software you are running isn't causing the issue. Try adjusting the security levels or shutting it off completely.
